about us
Elizabeth Moscrop
has had a stimulating writing and communications career, with some training thrown in for good measure. She started out teaching drama to inner city kids in Liverpool, segueing into performing and promoting stand up comedy...then moved to the BBC news and current affairs publicity department. She was (un)fortunate enough to be the public relations gopher for Martin Bashir's first big interview with Princess Diana. Tired of glueing 300ft of press cuttings to the BBC archive file, she leapt into Goldman Sachs' presentations department which took her to Hong Kong......where she was snaffled first by the China Internet Corporation (the first Chinese company to list on NASDAQ) and ultimately by ehealthcareasia as their Director of Corporate Communications. She was their first employee and the company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange within five months. Lots of 80 hour weeks and business breakfasts later the internet company went the way of many in the dot com boon, so she flew to Long Beach to learn to fly planes. Now totally hooked she earns her living writing about aviation and, in common with the birdflies team, helping flight training schools, conference producers and financial services providers with their internal and external communications. She has many years of corporate internal and external communications, newsletter production, web writing and marketing under her belt. Having worked for herself most of her life she appreciates the bottom line and works with her clients to produce best value, ie delivering desired results for the optimal price. She writes for aviation publications all over the world including Flight International's Flight Daily News, BART International, Avweb and Aircraft Interiors magazine amongst others.
Sanjay Rampal
A tiny dot in the sky would be just that to most, but Sanjay Rampal, would be able to tell you if it was a 747 or an F-16 Fighting Falcon by just looking at the contrails.  Sanjay's lineage is deeply rooted in aviation - his father was a fighter pilot in the Indian Airforce  and he was often mobbed by plethora of uncles and cousins attired in flight suits flying all manner of aircraft from jet fighters to heavy transport. However Sanjay chose the software engineering route, and with his feet firmly on the ground he is also a consultant to the telecom sector, where he works as a global project manager responsible for Network Interactive Voice Response Systems.  He was also a key part of the team that created the ice-prediction system widely used across American roads. His international experience includes time in the US in the semi-conductor business, specialising in developing reporting tools to assist financial and marketing departments. When in the States he caught the travel bug and toured much of the US and realised a lifetime ambition when he travelled to the deserts of Nevada and Arizona to visit the old military boneyards and touch the flying relics of the cold war. Mention the F-4 phantom and you get a complete history of this striking jet. Talk about the Spitfire and watch him voice the pitch of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine to describe the finer dog fighting capabilities of Reginald J Mitchell's revolutionary fighter plane.  In fact Mention any aircraft to Sanjay Rampal and you can guarantee he knows what it is, who manufactured it and where it is flown.  Aircraft in all shapes, forms and from eras be they real or imaginary in concept is what he is passionate about, so much so that over the years he has perfected the art of rendering his favourites craft in accurate model form.  An avid model maker his expert eye is perfect for capturing dramatic images of aircraft in flight or static.  You can see some of his images on the Biggin Hill website.
